Location

Steps from everything, tucked away from the noise.

Walk out the door and find scenic alleys, independent cafés, and tavernas in the heart of the Venetian quarter. The beach is a ten-minute stroll; the Old Harbour is down the street. The neighbourhood is pedestrian friendly — a car is unnecessary. For day trips around Crete, local travel agencies can arrange buses, car hire, or guided tours.

The best location! Close to everything but also very quiet. The AC and WiFi work well. Valantis was super nice, proactive and responsive.

I rented the apartment for a whole month to work remotely during the weekdays and enjoy the Greek early autumn at weekends. It worked pretty well and I had a great time!

Frequently asked questions

Yes — the apartment is yours entirely. It's a self-contained space with its own entrance, private bathroom, and kitchen. There are no shared areas of any kind.
Yes. Speed reaches up to 300mbps and covers the whole apartment comfortably. Video calls, large uploads, and two people working at the same time are all well within range.
Yes. Stays of 28 days or more qualify for monthly rates. Please note that long stays require a refundable cleanliness and damage deposit of €150, payable at check-in and returned at checkout subject to the condition of the apartment. Get in touch.
The main town beach — a wide sandy strip holding Blue Flag status — is roughly a 10-minute walk away. No transport required.
Arrival is self-managed via a lockbox — no need to coordinate with anyone. Access opens at 3pm. If you need an earlier arrival or a later departure, this can often be arranged for a small fee — just let us know once you've booked.
The apartment sits within the pedestrianised part of the Old Town, so driving to the door isn't possible. Both free and paid parking spots exist nearby, though availability varies. Most guests find they don't need a car at all — the whole town is on foot.
Yes. This apartment is intended for adult guests only and is not set up for young children or infants.
The apartment is on the ground floor with just one step at the entrance, which may work well for some guests. That said, it is a historic building dating from 1899 and has not been adapted for disability access. We are unable to provide individual accessibility assessments — the apartment is offered as seen in the photos, and we encourage guests to make their own judgement before booking.
We don't arrange transfers, but it's straightforward to sort independently. Prebooking is available via Booking.com, Hoppa.com, or similar services. Taxis wait at both Chania and Heraklion airports — agree the fare upfront using the posted fixed-rate boards before you set off. Tell the driver to drop you at Fortezza Hotel, which is a one-minute walk from the apartment. Chania airport is 66 km away; Heraklion is 82 km.
Not something we handle. There are plenty of local agencies in town who specialise in exactly this — a quick search will point you in the right direction.
Yes! Students are welcome. That said, this is a quiet residential apartment in the heart of the Old Town — it is absolutely not suitable for parties, gatherings, loud music, or any kind of group socialising. We welcome only calm, considerate guests who will treat the space with care and leave it in the same condition they found it.
No. The apartment is booked for up to two guests, and this must be respected. If we find that more people are using the apartment than declared at the time of booking, the reservation will be cancelled immediately with no refund. Solo bookings must be updated if a second person joins your stay — please get in touch so we can adjust your reservation accordingly.
Daytime visitors are fine — a friend or family member dropping by is no problem. Overnight guests are another matter. If you're renting as a solo guest, you may have one overnight visitor at a time; if they stay for more than three nights in total within a calendar month, you must let us know in advance. Couples or pairs who have booked together may not have additional overnight visitors under any circumstances.
Like every home in Crete, the apartment runs on a solar water heater — which reliably provides hot water 24/7, year-round. On the rare occasion it falls short — during a stretch of cloudy weather, for instance — a backup is available. Water pressure is excellent.
The street-facing window brings in natural light, as does the glazed front door. A back door opens onto a small utility space that's open to the sky and lets air through. Both the bathroom and the kitchen hob have exhaust fans. We ask that you keep the apartment well ventilated during your stay, especially after a steamy shower or when cooking.
This is a centuries-old Mediterranean neighbourhood. It is warm, it is beautiful, and yes — like virtually every historic town in southern Europe — it may occasionally play host to some uninvited guests. We keep the apartment clean and treated, but we can't control what might wander in from outside. If the mere thought makes you uneasy, this corner of Crete probably isn't for you.
Bookings are non-refundable. Whether you cancel in advance or simply don't show up, the full reservation amount is charged.
